Structural Engineering Vacancies

Thomasons Guildford currently has three vacancies.

Experienced graduates / structural engineers (two vacancies)

We are looking for the following core requirements:

• Well rounded building design skills for both new build and alterations/extensions
• Good understanding of sub-structure solutions
• Good communication skills Strong team ethic and willingness to support others
• Able to brief and direct younger engineers and CAD technicians
• Desire to develop their career and take on increasing responsibilities

Other requirements:

• Experience with SCIA and/or CSC Fastrac an advantage
• Experience of liaising with clients, other building professionals and statutory authorities an advantage
• Experience of site inspections and structural surveys an advantage
• Experience of running own small to medium sized projects or being a key member on larger projects an advantage
  Ability to work within programme and cost constraints an advantage
• Commercial awareness and experience of submitting fee proposals an advantage
• Full UK drivers licence and own car an advantage

Salary range £28 -£35k subject to experience

Chartered / nearly chartered engineer (one vacancy)

Thomasons Guildford has a vacancy for an experienced 'hands-on' chartered or nearly chartered engineer to work within one of their established teams to initially manage / assist an existing client base within the commercial, education and residential sectors; with a view to expanding a wider portfolio of work in due course.

The successful candidate will have:

• An innate understanding of structural engineering
• Proven UK design experience utilising British Standards/Eurocodes Chartered or Incorporated membership of IStructE or I.C.E
• Competence with computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements in most common materials i.e. steel, concrete, composite, masonry & timber
• Good verbal & written communication skills with experience of report writing
• Good grasp of detailing or briefing/checking CAD technicians
• Experience of site inspections/ surveys essential
• Experience of meetings/ communications with clients and other professionals essential
• Self motivation and be capable of supporting/working within an existing team
• Commitment to Health & Safety, CDM & CPD requirements
