Delivering innovative, award-winning civil and structural engineering solutions: Thomasons brings exceptional design to the construction industry

Kings Arms Yard, London

King’s Arms Yard is a high specification office re-development on a congested city centre site within a conservation area that required the demolition of two existing buildings and partial façade retention.  The £16M project consists of two basements and seven upper storeys turning the former Bank of England Dining Club into 56,000 square foot of flexible office accommodation with roof level plant and new electrical sub station in the basement.

Initially involved with feasibility work for the Bank of England, Thomasons re-use of the existing basement gave a novel approach to the project leading to significant cost savings.  As part of the successful Design Team awarded the contract Thomasons were involved from scheme stage and later novated as part of a Design and Build Contract.

Thomasons provided a structural solution that strengthened and reused the existing basement to support a new light-weight composite steel framed structure stabilised by new concrete cores.
