Central Park, Rugby

Central Park is an industrial estate located to the north of Rugby. It is being developed in phases with the main highway infrastructure being offered to Warwickshire County Council for adoption. The primary foul and surface water drainage networks for the site have already been constructed and been offered to Severn Trent Water for adoption with connection spurs and flow constraints imposed for the future development.

Thomasons was appointed as Civil and Structural Engineer for the development of this £50M project. The site was a five hectare greenfield plot which included the design of the extension of the public highway to adoptable standards and an emergency access track.

In addition to the adoptable highway works, Thomasons was responsible for the design of the on-plot infrastructure. The site sloped quite steeply and this was overcome by introducing three plateaus on the site which balanced the cut and fill. Oversized pipes were used to provide attenuation within the surface water drainage network which then connected to the previously constructed primary network. A detailed level design completed the infrastructure development.

Thomasons also undertook foundation and portal frame design for the proposed units.
