Delivering innovative, award-winning civil and structural engineering solutions: Thomasons brings exceptional design to the construction industry

Owston Hall, Doncaster

Owston Hall is a 200 year old Grade II* listed building in spacious grounds, which houses a golf club, bar, function suites and hotel. On 4 November 1999, it suffered a major fire which destroyed its roof and caused extensive internal damage. Working closely with the owner, insurers, loss adjusters, specialist consultants and the contractor, Thomasons designed and coordinated the repair work, including reproduction of ornate plasterwork and authentic king post roof trusses and timbers.

Thomasons negotiated arrangements with English Heritage and the local authority to allow the work to proceed on a fast track programme so that further deterioration of the building was minimised and the owner was able to resume trading with minimum delay. The restoration subsequently received a Doncaster design award.
