Sydney Smith School, Hull

Thomasons were appointed by Hull City Council in connection with the reinstatement works of Sydney Smith School following flood damage in July 2007.

Thomasons established a full-time base at Sydney Smith School to allow close liaison with the School staff and accommodate the tight programme required to achieve the partial re-opening of the school at the beginning of the new academic year with further teaching blocks and facilities handed back in phases.

Works included asbestos removal, force drying of building fabric and reinstatement to the main assembly hall, swimming pool, two gymnasiums, science laboratories, two canteens and kitchens and other general teaching and circulation spaces. The contract value of this project was £4.8M.

Thomasons (Health & Safety) Ltd were also appointed to carry out CDM Co-ordinator duties under the CDM Regulations 2007.
