Safari Hotel, Chessington World of Adventures

Opened in July 2007, the five storey 150 room Safari Hotel, run by Holiday Inn is located next to Chessington World of Adventures.

The property has a safari theme to match Chessington’s zoo area and landscaped gardens. The rooms include 56 specially designed family rooms, with a private children’s sleeping area with flat screen televisions and games consoles. Thomasons undertook all civil and structural engineering design work.

The hotel consists of a partial basement of a composite steel frame to the first floor level, supporting a light gauge steel frame superstructure for the upper levels. The steel frame had to incorporate large open areas at ground floor for the leisure and conference facilities.

At the rear of the building a series of retention ponds and wetlands were created to provide a SUDS drainage scheme serving the whole of the Chessington World of Adventures development.
