Debenhams, Oxford

The Debenhams redevelopment in Oxford involved the demolition of the existing store whilst retaining the original façade to George Street and Magdalen Street. Thomasons was appointed for both the main contract works and the subsequent fit-out of the retail units.

The Debenhams store occupies 130,000 sq. ft. on the upper three floors, whilst a further 50,000 sq. ft. is occupied by a number of smaller units at ground and basement levels.

The fit-out contract included a number of innovative structures incorporated within the main entrance atrium. The glazed scenic lift structure and adjoining curved cantilever staircase are among the main architectural features within the impressive atrium area.
