York St John University

A major external refurbishment project to the prominent Grade II Listed Building that forms the historic heart of the University’s campus and comprising the renewal of slate roof coverings, re-pointing of brickwork and repairs and replacement of feature stonework details.

The brief also required extensive external works to the Central Quad area involving laying of new York stone paths, renewal of stone steps and the integration of external access ramps and wheelchair lifts to provide “accessible entry” into the various buildings that gain access from the Quad.

Following an investigation by our Structural Engineers into the cause of the extensive cracking affecting the Grade II Chapel at York St John University, a programme of repairs and remedial works were implemented to repair the damage and to ensure further damage did not occur.
