Delivering innovative, award-winning civil and structural engineering solutions: Thomasons brings exceptional design to the construction industry

Forest Road, London
Forest Road Clinic is the second of the sample schemes for the Barnet Enfield and Haringey LIFT.
The building is constructed on the site of a former elderly care home owned by London Borough of Enfield. The £5.5m building is constructed on piled foundations with a suspended insitu concrete ground floor and insitu reinforced concrete flat slab upper floors. Piled foundations were selected after an in-depth value engineering exercise comparing the cost of large pad foundations bearing into the underlying gravels to the cost of piling. The environmental implications of removing large quantities of material from a site bounded by residential streets were also considered.
Thomasons services included the structural design as well as the external roadways, car parks and below ground drainage. With the completion of the new building the staff from the adjoining 1970s clinic have moved across, enabling the resulting land to the rear and southern side of the clinic to be developed as a £9m extra care home and affordable housing.
