Thomasons acted as project managers and led the design team on the restoration of Sydenham House, a 15-storey apartment building in Sefton Park, Liverpool, following a fire. All the apartments on the top floor were destroyed and significant water damage was caused to the lower floors.
The role carried out by Thomasons’ team of building surveyors spanned site management following the incident, the design, tendering and contract works phases, and finally handover to the client.
Residents on every floor of the building were evacuated following the incident. However, when contract works began to the upper floors, the building was re-occupied up to the 12th floor and remained operational throughout.
Thomasons has undertaken many surveying and structural design projects on behalf of housing association Your Housing Group, which owns and manages the building. Sydenham House is the largest joint project to date.
