Thomasons acted as structural engineers for the new flagship TK Maxx store within the Arndale Centre in Manchester. This is TK Maxx’s largest store in Europe.
The main structural works included new passenger lifts, structural alterations to the ground floor near the Market Street entrance and structural alterations to the reinforced concrete structure at the lower ground floor and ground floor to allow the installation of two new longer escalators.
The works were made more difficult due to presence of Aldi at the first floor level, splitting the TK Maxx second floor from the ground and basement below.
