Sydenham House in Liverpool restored following 2015 fire
Thomasons is proud to have acted as project managers and led the design team on the restoration of Sydenham House, a tower block in Sefton Park, Liverpool. The project was recently completed following a fire on the 15th floor of the building in May 2015, which resulted in the total devastation of the apartments on that level and significant water damage to the lower floors.
Immediately following the incident all 15 floors of the building were evacuated. However, by the time the contract works began to the upper floors, the building was re-occupied up to the 12th floor and remained operational throughout. The role carried out by Thomasons’ team of building surveyors spanned site management following the incident, the design, tendering and contract works phases, and finally handover to the client.
With a strong track record for managing complex and major insurance projects, Thomasons has undertaken many surveying and structural design projects on behalf of Your Housing Group, which owns and manages the building. Sydenham House is the largest joint project to date.
Now the project has been completed, Thomasons is delighted that the homes have been fully restored and YHG can welcome its residents home.
